Frequently Asked Questions

What is ABA?

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. We apply the principles of behavioral science to help individuals make lasting, positive changes that enhance their quality of life. By setting small, achievable goals and continuously evaluating the most effective strategies, we support each client in their unique journey. For instance, we can teach individuals how to use communication to express their needs, build social skills, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Additionally, we work with clients to reduce behaviors of concern, such as aggression, running away, or severe emotional outbursts, fostering greater independence and well-being.

What is trauma-informed care?

Trauma-informed care refers to understanding and responding to trauma in a safe and supportive environment. We build trust through transparency, fostering an environment where individuals’ strengths are nurtured and resilience is cultivated, paving the way for healing. By remaining attuned to the unique needs, values, and experiences of each person, we encourage collaboration and a personalized approach. Our primary goal is to create a safe, supportive space where individuals can express themselves freely.

What makes Heart of the Village different?

We believe there is a right and wrong way to implement ABA therapy. We always tell the families we work with that if they ever feel uncomfortable with any aspect of the treatment, they should feel empowered to seek another provider. After all, you are entrusting someone with the well-being of your child, and we deeply understand the responsibility that comes with that trust. Having worked with over 10 different ABA providers, we have witnessed firsthand the importance of quality care — treatment that prioritizes genuine progress over profit. We are truly passionate about our work because we have seen how transformative ABA therapy can be, and are excited to play a role in that change. Our goal is to create a supportive, positive, and safe environment for everyone involved, where each individual feels valued and cared for.
